Welford Victoria exited the NFA Veterans’ Cup at the first hurdle with a heavy defeat to an impressive Kettering Nomads side at Newlands Road.
Despite being two divisions below their visitors, Welford nonetheless made a strong start having the lion’s share of possession and arguably the better chances in the opening 25 minutes. However, a scrappy goal on 40 minutes put Nomads ahead at the break. After managing to hold our own up to 65 minutes, with limited substitute rotation available we began to tire and Nomads were able to add five more goals before full time.
