A hard-fought game for Welford with plenty of fight and effort all over but ultimately no reward at the end of it. Syresham took the lead midway through the first half with a goal from a corner, converted by an unmarked man at the back post. Welford were rocky for the next 10 minutes or so but eventually settled back down and played some good football, hitting the crossbar just before the break.
Second half it was one-way traffic as Welford took the game to Syresham, really putting them on the back foot and spurning chance after chance as the opposition rode their luck a little. However, missed chances count for nothing and right at the death Syresham broke up the pitch to kill the game off at 0-2. Full credit to Syresham for standing firm and taking the win. We wish them all the best in the next round of the cup.
