Welford welcomed Asfordby Development to Newlands Road in the hope of building from the previous week’s positive result. Within 2 minutes of the game starting, though, Welford found themselves in dire straits; conceding a penalty that was duly dispatched to give the visitors any early lead.
Welford came back into the swing of things and created some good chances; the best of which falling to Chris Foggin who saw his effort saved after some good build up play. This proved costly as Asfordby went straight down the other end to make it 2-0 after 30 minutes. With their tails up they went in search of a third and it came as no surprise that Welford were again undone to head into the break trailling by three.
Welford came into half time depleted and dejected. With the manager’s words ringing in their ears they went out in search of a way to get back into the game but conceded a fourth just five minutes into the second half. Welford were never really at the races and conceded a fifth and final goal with ten minutes still left on the clock.
A frustrating afternoon for Welford and the players as they have now not won a game in five attempts.
