U9s coaching

Additional U9s coach sought…

January 26, 2023

One of the things that gives the committee members at WVFC the most satisfaction is seeing our U9s training group going from strength to strength.  This time last year, in the depths of the coldest weather, we were lucky to get 6 children showing up but last night we had about 23 boys and girls join our session.

We focus on developing football skills, communication skills and working as a team in a fun and enjoyable way and it has been unbelievably rewarding to see the kids develop their skills over the past 12 months.  We don’t have a team in a league – a number of our children play weekend matches elsewhere – but what we do have is a lovely group that enjoys football and the sessions we put on (as well as the occasional friendly match).  Parents are encouraged to stay to watch the sessions and refreshments are available to buy from the clubhouse, with every sale helping raise funds for the club.

This growth means that we are now approaching full capacity in terms of numbers, so are looking for another coach to join the team.  This will allow numbers to grow and provide cover if a coach isn’t available.  Sessions run on Wednesday evenings from 6:15pm to 7:15pm at the Sportsfield, meaning the total time commitment required is just ninety minutes per week.

If you’re interested (or know somebody that would love to get involved) and you share our values then please contact Barrie Dowsett on chairman@welfordvictoria.com.  The club will pay for FA training and mandatory checks.
